DAY OF THE DEAD by Bev Caine

November 2023 - DAY OF THE DEAD

About the Image(s)

There was a Dia de las Muertos {Day of the Dead) celebration in Boynton Beach today so I took the opportunity to hitch a ride with one of my friends to see what I might photograph. It was really a treasure trove of images and I chose this one as the one of the first to work on.

Bev, this is an excellent image for the Halloween Season. Your vivid background really makes the ghostly couple pop. You get some great festivals in your area! Well done.   Posted: 11/03/2023 17:07:09

Bev, You do such a great job with portraits and "people" images. I love the pose of the subjects, the background, and the colors. Very, very , nice. Good work!!   Posted: 11/03/2023 20:00:54

What a fun photo. I agree with the others that the color of the background adds to the mood. What elaborate costumes! Great job Bev!   Posted: 11/08/2023 10:14:11

No, it is not. I was taken at the Day of the Dead in Lake Worth and the only thing I did was change the background, add a little vibrance and sharpen it a bit.   Posted: 11/12/2023 16:48:08

I like seeing images like yours. It confirms that I'm no alone in making photographs of cultures. Are you in the Lake Worth area in Texas? When I was living in Ft. Worth I spent some time at Lake Worth.   Posted: 11/27/2023 14:46:13

Not Texas - Lake Worth Florida between Ft. Lauderdale and West Palm Beach. Everyone but the judges in my camera club seems to enjoy them so I'm not renewing the club membership. Thanks so much   Posted: 11/27/2023 15:08:47

I like the image of the couple but not sure of the background. Dr. Isaac asked if it was a composite and that was sort of my thought as well. Maybe it's the light-ish color around the bottom of the skirt and also the shoes that make it appear to me as though they are floating. Also there seems to be some artifacts around the line of the floor and wall?   Posted: 11/29/2023 15:43:33

Thanks. The older I get the worse the vision gets.   Posted: 11/29/2023 15:47:12
