Paul, your low key Black Velvet Petunia is outstanding! Love your treatment of the flower. It almost looks like an abstract or line drawing. Very well done.   Posted: 05/01/2023 13:42:41

Thanks Tom, when I looked at it in RAW I thought I had missed it. But just a Highlights adjustment in Lightroom revealed the colors.   Posted: 05/02/2023 09:25:05

Paul, this is lovely. Looks more like a piece of art than a photograph. I'm wondering if you darkened it in post processing or whether the image looked like that after you took it.   Posted: 05/01/2023 20:39:19

No I didn't darken it, just it appears black just looking at it. The RAW file was very dark. The flash caught all the details. Using a f/20 turns the area surround the subject dark. I was able to bring out the details in Lightroom.   Posted: 05/02/2023 09:18:06

Paul, this is a terrific treatment of the flower. I agree with Tom's comment about the abstract quality of the image. I do find the image very appealing. I expect it would make a fine print!   Posted: 05/05/2023 08:34:55

Very striking image! I would like to see a very thin stroke around it to set it off from the black background - maybe the darker pink? Great job though. Glad I stopped by this group.   Posted: 05/27/2023 16:00:44
