HIGH WATER ON THE POTOMAC by Margaret Sprott, APSA

August 2022 - HIGH WATER ON THE POTOMAC

About the Image(s)

Nikon 5300 Tamron 18-400
Settings: 18mm; f 4.5;1/200 sec.; ISO 400
No flash or tripod
In May, 2022 we went for a walk on the tow-path to see how high the water from the Potomac River was. We have a house fairly near Great Falls on the Potomac so it's always fun to see how high the water is. The path is quite high at this point so I liked the patterns of the muddy water and the trees and rocks protruding from the wateR,

Margaret, great point of view! What I think you have achieved is the feeling you could be swept away and over the falls any second! Very well exposed image. The muddy colors make the image and the white cascading of the falls some may say to bright but I think in this case very realistic. Well done.   Posted: 08/06/2022 18:00:47

Thanks - that was a high water day and I'm not sure if we've been back since.   Posted: 08/27/2022 09:22:02
