About the Image(s)
I spent 6 weeks at the beach this year and collected some shells, of course. I particularly liked this tiny Whelk shell and photographed it with my Macro Lens. I was in aperture priority with my Canon Rebel T6i. Used f5, 1/80 sec., ISO 5000, and 60mm. As you can see my background had a bunch of spots to be removed. The I cropped it and gave it a white vignette. I think I also used Topaz Sharpening AI.

I like your approach. The shell came out great. What about changing the background like Bev did using a contrasting color?   Posted: 05/11/2022 11:05:57
Jamie, you did a great job of photographing the shell. The image really captures my eye. I like your edits, but I also liked the way the original black background seems to make the shell really pop. I can see the spots you wanted to remove. I was wondering whether spot healing could have gotten rid of them or maybe clone stamping, using the black background that is farther away from the shell.   Posted: 05/11/2022 16:15:57
Thanks Mary. I do need to work omN the background. Thanks for your suggestions!   Posted: 05/11/2022 19:42:15
Take a look at Marie Altenburg's website. She just came out with some fabulous textures that would probably work fabulously well with this image I will probably buy that set tomorrow and update my comments on this after I work with them a bit   Posted: 05/13/2022 21:14:18
I looked at her website and her work is fantastic! Do you have her pricing on instruction?   Posted: 05/14/2022 07:51:41
I do not, but give her an email and I will send her a heads up to look for you with your email   Posted: 05/14/2022 07:55:33

Good sharp focus and I like the vignette.   Posted: 05/15/2022 18:00:22

I also love this image. I can't decide if I would like it better with another color for the background. I would have to see it to decide. I'm not sure I like the white vignette - again would have to see it without it to know which is better.   Posted: 05/16/2022 09:17:42
