About the Image(s)

I don't remember where I took this, but being at home more than anything decided to resurrect old images.

As the original was a small image, I first moved into Topaz Gigapixel to enlarge it a bit without losing clarity or density. I then opened it in Photoshop with the intention of changing the background. I chose one of the textures from Marie Altenburg's website and replaced the background. As my crop turned out to be a bit tight, in Photoshop, I selected the entire image and then I went to IMAGE, CANVAS SIZE and did a content aware fill in the blank space created by that process. While the surrounding stroke lines were still in place, I went to Edit, Stroke and after having previously selected one of the colors in the flower, did a 2 px stroke.

You did a great job with this image. The stroke line and background really set it off.   Posted: 05/11/2022 10:57:15

I'll probably submit it to next month's competition at the club and hope the judge agrees with you. This month's judge for me was a disaster.   Posted: 05/11/2022 15:53:15

Bev, this photo of the flower is beautiful and I really like your editing. As Lloyd mentioned, the choice of background and the stroke line really set the flower off. The only thing I don't like is the hot spots. The white edges and the yellow spot seem a little blown out to me.   Posted: 05/11/2022 15:57:15

I can probably get rid of the yellow but don't know about the white. I'll give it a shot tomorrow and see if I can clone them out and post when done. Thanks for the input.   Posted: 05/11/2022 22:07:29

I can appreciate a good flower shot like this one. I have the worst time with photographing flowers.   Posted: 05/15/2022 17:53:40

This is a wow to me! Like the others, I love your background and the stroke line. I do not have Topaz Gigapixel but do have Sharpen AI and DeNoise AI. Maybe I need it too? Hope you do well in your contest!   Posted: 05/15/2022 18:12:47

I definitely like your latest version best and I love the background and the flower and your description of how you did it. However, I'll never be able to do any of that but I can enjoy your image. I guess my only question is why did you put the stroke line right against some of the flower.   Posted: 05/16/2022 08:58:48

First, you most certainly will be able to do that. It just takes a bit of patience. If you call me when you're ready to try, I will be delighted to help you.
As to the stroke, my answer is, I don't know. I can and will move it and give it a bit more space.   Posted: 05/16/2022 09:58:49

In my opinion, this image has potential. The brilliant color lends some impact, but it looks to me like there are a few small white areas that are blown out. I would suggest cloing those out or painting over them. Also, for me, the red inner border is a little bit too tight. I always like to see the subject have a little "room to breathe."
I hope my commnets have been helpful. Image analysis is very subjective so this is clearly only my opinon.   Posted: 05/16/2022 09:24:22

On the updated image that I sent Margaret I don't see the blown out areas but that may be as a result of my 84 year old eyes. If you would be kind enough to point them out, I would be most grateful. I plan to adjust or eliminate the red inner border following Margaret's comment as well re that. Thanks for your input.   Posted: 05/16/2022 10:02:16

I just redid this again for the umpteenth time and would appreciate comments before submitting it for the June competition.   Posted: 05/19/2022 20:20:40
