BIG CEDAR by Gary Schafer

October 2021 - BIG CEDAR

About the Image(s)

This photo was taken of one of the cross overs of the stream that runs through Dogwood Canyon near Branson Missouri. The photo was taken April 19, 2021.

It was taken with a Canon 5D Mark IV, Canon 18-70 F4 L IS. Settings include focal length 42mm, ISO 50, F9, 1/50s. I was careless in that I was not watching the F stop carefully and it should have been set higher, perhaps F11 or F16. I always shoot in Camera RAW and Manual Mode.

You captured so nice shadows in the water. Love the feeling of a nice spring day.   Posted: 10/02/2021 13:32:11

Gary, I wouldn't change very much. I like the water being a leading line into the beautiful bridge and reflection. Would love to see the same image with fall colors. Welcome to our little group Gary. I think four of us are Floridians.   Posted: 10/04/2021 06:51:43

Lovely composition and treatment of the scene. I don't think th f stop is an issue since the focus is sharp throughout. Well done   Posted: 10/04/2021 12:36:12

Beautiful image. I would like to see this in a panorama format and since the location and size of that greenery in the right is a bit too powerful for me, I've included a suggested change. Let me know what you think.   Posted: 10/09/2021 14:52:54

I'm not sure how the f9 was enough but I agree that everything looks sharp. I'm also surprised that you got it that sharp with a shutter speed of 1/50s. Were you using a tripod? I love the stone bridge and those pink blossoms in the background.
(I hope you got my welcome message which I had trouble sending - but welcome again)   Posted: 10/09/2021 15:33:00
