MISTY MORNING by Mary Walsh

September 2021 - MISTY MORNING

About the Image(s)

When I was in the Adirondacks in New York recently, I noticed the mist on the lake one morning and liked the effect it created. I cropped the picture slightly and made a few adjustments in Lightroom. Nikon Z7II, Nikkor 24-200, ISO 500, F8, 1/30 sec

Mary, I absolutely love this mood image. The mist is beautiful. Layout is perfect. The only spot I might burn a little is directly over the roof of the boat house at the top of the trees. Well done.   Posted: 09/06/2021 08:30:54

I love it! Before I figured out if was a boat house, I thought there was flooding. What lake is it? I suppose Tom's suggestion is good but again, before he pointed it out, I did not notice that lighter part.   Posted: 09/06/2021 10:39:55

Margaret, yes it's actually a boat garage. I liked the way it reflected on the water. It's on the channel that connects Old Forge to first lake (they aren't very creative with lake names up there).   Posted: 09/06/2021 10:44:02

Thanks! I like that reflection too. I have a nephew that has gone to Old Forge a lot and grandson at Paul Smith College along a lake near Lake Placid.   Posted: 09/06/2021 10:57:48

Lovely!
Great composition and it might benefit from a bit of a vignette to help frame the image. I might also darker the reflection a bit.   Posted: 09/07/2021 16:04:48

I love the coloring and the overall image but I find the shoreline a bit to close to the middle of the image so I cropped a bit off the bottom of the lake to better fit the rule of thirds and accentuate the shoreline, the boat house, etc. What do you think?   Posted: 09/09/2021 20:30:04
