About the Image(s)

This was taken at Longwood Gardens. It was indoors in their conservancy. Lighting was difficult because of all the windows above the scene. My shot was underexposed, so I lightened it in post processing. I also cropped and straightened it, and edited it in Luminar AI. ISO 250, 28mm, 1/125 sec, F5.6

Mary, what a pretty scene! I like the way the flowers on the bottom right lead you into the scene. The shadows of the windows also lead into the image. Well done.   Posted: 06/03/2021 11:52:10

This is a beautiful scene, but for me, the problem is you have two centers of interest--the lower left hand corner and the background and very bright grass pulling my attention away from the corner. I honestly have no suggestions as to how to improve it but would like to hear from the others for suggestions.   Posted: 06/14/2021 20:11:22

A very lovely scene! I think I would have increased the ISO so I could have greater depth of field and still be able to have a fast enough shutter speed because I suspect you could not use a tripod. I also may have tried to make the green a little less bright and I wonder if maybe you lightened it too much as you increased the exposure. Still, it makes me want to go there.   Posted: 06/14/2021 21:35:55

Thanks Margaret. You are right about the higher ISO. I really think I needed to take a series of bracketed shots and combine them. Unfortunately, tripods are not allowed in this indoor space. I wondered if I could have managed with a monopod. Also, I used Luminar AI software in post processing and I think it may have "overdone" it a bit. I will go back and look at it again.   Posted: 06/15/2021 12:05:10

It is a gorgeous scene Mary and I love the colours. I also agree that the grass is a little bright and wondered if you could just use a curves layer to selectively darken this.   Posted: 06/15/2021 03:12:57

Love all the beautiful colors. I played with it a bit and cropped some of the tree trunk on left as well as some on the top to the top of the white bush. Then I took a bit of the exposure down and also highlights. It looked more like a softer time of day and took away the brilliance of the grass.   Posted: 06/15/2021 12:00:15

Jamie, did you put your changed version up? I would love to see how it looks.   Posted: 06/15/2021 12:07:14

I tried and it says it was too large but I had it the same size as I always send.   Posted: 06/15/2021 12:13:34
