About the Image(s)

This image was taken at Opolo Vineyard in the Paso Robles region of California. I shot it hand held with my Olympus E-M1MarkII camera using a 12-40 2.8 lens. The exposure was 1/200 sec at f/7.1 and the focal length 12mm. I used a circular polarizer to bring out the colors. I chose to crop the picture as a panorama to emphasize the curves of the rolling hills and the different patterns made by the crops. I love fall colors and wanted to bring out the warmth and color, so I used lightroom brushes to increase exposure on the trees in the middle of the image.

Gorgeous. So peaceful. Although you did not include your original, whatever you changed worked wonderfully to create a great result.   Posted: 05/03/2021 08:33:27

Here is the original image. It might be useful to others to see the difference.   Posted: 05/03/2021 14:32:27

Lloyd, on my computer the original seems sharper that the new one. One thing that you cropped out that I loved is the little animal in the extreme right of the photo. I love the colors and the way you got so many levels of hills. Really nice photo! I played with your original and did a different crop to include those animals.   Posted: 05/05/2021 11:17:47

I am glad you like it. The animals you refer to our llamas.   Posted: 05/05/2021 16:53:40

Lloyd, I love this scene. The feeling of being able to see a large expanse is great and the fall colors are wonderful. I'm admiring the way you used the wide angle lens to make the scene very interesting. I have been trying to learn how to take better photos with my wide angle lens, so I'm admiring what you did. Were you low to the ground when you took this?   Posted: 05/03/2021 10:39:55

I love the way you cropped it! The straight rows and curves are beautiful and what you did with those trees makes them really pop out. I don't understand how to use Lightroom brushes. I think I must take a LR course because there is so much I don't know. Great image!   Posted: 05/05/2021 08:34:55

Thank you Margaret. It's easy to experiment with the brush in light room. You are able to make all kinds of local adjustments in the location that you brush. Give it a shot.   Posted: 05/05/2021 16:55:35
