About the Image(s)

Here is "The House of Time". This is a window of a watchmakers in an open-air museum. I was fascinated by the row watches hanging in the window, half of them with their faces and half with their backs out, every one showing a different time. I tried to make a moody mysterious image of what looked like a time travellers residence. Fuji XT-2, F 23 mm, f/5.6, 1/80 s, ISO 400. Used a "Creative" filter in Photomatics Pro. Does this work?

The watches really make the picture, but I feel they are too small. I would not have noticed that they are showing different times. Your idea is really good, ( the picture is moody and mysterious)but I would try several alternative crops. Be bold.   Posted: 10/13/2021 20:16:51

Thank you, Al - this is very evident now that you pointed it out. I think that even a little increase in the size of the watches makes a whole lot of difference. - This was very important for me as I am planning to use the image to try to sell some weird ideas to a group that is planning a little exhibition together. I will try to think of other options, too - maybe a composite? - and am very grateful for all suggestions.   Posted: 10/14/2021 13:01:19

Try cropping out the top window panes. A third of the photo is essentially blank space   Posted: 10/14/2021 14:36:16

Thanks, this will work - although I kind of like the upper panes with the strange gleam of light. I think that they may add to the ghostly atmosphere. I made also another square version where the watches are a even little bit larger, and cropped off the outer part of the frame, but that did not increase se size very much.   Posted: 10/15/2021 01:37:31

I really like the concept of time in your photo. The frame of the window is beautiful. I wish I was better at PS but there must be a way to just enlarge the watches in one layer and then combine with the whole image?! Very good luck with the project.   Posted: 10/18/2021 17:18:50

Thank you very much, Jen! I actually enlarged them a bit, but it is not quite enough. And when I tried to make them bigger, the panes started to look very crowded. I'll keep working on it.   Posted: 10/18/2021 23:48:04
