About the Image(s)

A pair of Magellanic penguins taken in Patalonia on the Strait of Magellan (or close to it). Nikon D200 with a Nikon 18-200 lens. Aperture priority wide open at 200mm. I took several shots of these two slowly waddling together. None particularly interesting. They stopped and the female turned and I pressed the button. The colors was brown, except for the penguins. They were B&W.

Processing in ON1. Conversion to B&W enhancement of contrast and detail sharpening

Hi Albert, you caught a very special moment! The composition strenghtens the intimate feeling of their postures and body language. The light brings the fine sharp details of their feathers out beautifully.
The background with the small pebbles may be a little busy, but that is their habitat, and you have got them stand out very well. A wonderful image.   Posted: 09/13/2021 00:51:01
