Beautifully done. The converging
lines and strong contrasts, with the strong bright areas on street make this a very arresting composition. The square small building in the right side background could be cloned out. It is a minor distraction

Hi Colin, I wonder if the foreground is water, smoothed silky by the long exposure? The reflections are so beautiful. I think that they balance the background sky and the large mass of the building on the left nicely. My eye finds first the contrast of the darker narrow building and the lighter areas and then wanders round the details of the larger building and then returns back.   Posted: 07/15/2021 03:37:59

Hi Kirsti, yes it was a 30 second exposure   Posted: 07/15/2021 04:16:06

A well composed shot that's perfect for mono, with so much detail and shades. The lead in line of the left bank works perfectly. There seems to be no variation in the lightness from within the Windows, which is interesting, but helps to focus the eye on the shape and textures. And no people! I think I know where this is and there was always people around when I was there! Nice image Colin.   Posted: 07/18/2021 11:39:03

Hi Adrian yes its Canary wharf it was over a weekend so not many people about   Posted: 07/18/2021 12:01:19

The sharpness of the buildings contrast beautifully with the smoothness of the water. It is a beautiful images. When I was there in the late 90s there was a huge amount of building going on, so did not appreciate it, as I do now!   Posted: 07/18/2021 14:31:33

Hi Colin,
I find this to be an interesting study in architecture both of the buildings and the bridge in the distance. I like the way you handled the focus (DOF), contrast and tonality. I also find the texture and shadows of/on the water interesting.

For my part, I would like to have seen a focal point such as a boat or something on which to focus. I also wonder if the sky is as shot or placed into the image. Was it an overcast day?

Thank you for sharing it with us.   Posted: 07/18/2021 21:17:57
