Snow Creature by Albert Zabin

June 2021 - Snow Creature

About the Image(s)

I took this shot shortly after a heavy snow fdalls this past winter in the woods in Lexington. The woods had many of these odd looking forms. I had never seen this kind of natural snow forms. Taken with a Nikm 800, 24-120mm zoom at about80mm and f/5.6 for blur the background, aperture priority. Converted with Silverefex2. The original was almost monochrome, on this cold damp day. I heighted highligits to give some texture and dimensionalilty to the "crfeature.

I was totally fascinated by the creature. It looks like he has dropped from outer space to rest on the branches. I was wondering how he would come out from a darker background with some of the smaller white patches at the edges removed, a rectangular vignette and some tweaking of the curves. This of course loses the authenticity, but might give him an abstract-like character?   Posted: 06/16/2021 00:06:07

I like your suggestions. They would would disqualify for entry in a contest of the PSA nature category, but are aesthetically sound.   Posted: 06/16/2021 08:36:59
