Hi Al - I like the black and white but the palace seems like it might benefit from a small increase in exposure. It seems just a little dark. Other than that, I don't have any suggestions. I like the way the trees frame the subject and I think the sky looks great. Nice image.   Posted: 10/12/2024 21:54:50

Hi Al,

I have been to Japan (decades ago) and really liked the traditional culture where I was able to find it. This scene evokes memories of that more traditional side of the country which I found to be truly unique.

Studying the image I did find it a little busy but totally in context for the setting. I also like the infrared effect, along with the tint you used.

I really have only one suggestion - to lighten up the pond a bit. I can tell there are reflections in the water but they are very faint almost giveing the appearance of a black hole in the setting.

Other than a very nice and peaceful scene. Thank you for sharing it with us.

Hi Al, what a lovely tranquil scene. The many layers bring depth to the image, and the lack of atmospheric haze allows even the mountains in the horizon show in clear detail. - I wonder if cropping off a bit from the left edge might help to direct attention to the center of the image, and still leave the tree to frame the pond and the graceful buildings?   Posted: 10/13/2024 15:56:22

I like the infrared but I think the trees are the more dominant subjects - perhaps tone them down just a bit and brighten the house just a bit. Or just brightem the entire image overall?
This reminds me of a scene from a Kurasawa movie. It's a very nice and peaceful composition.
