About the Image(s)

A few weeks ago, I was out in the countryside not far from my home looking for spring subjects to photograph. I came across this willow tree, stopped by the side of the road, and shot the usual brackets (the bird kept posing long enough for me). I tone mapped the brackets in Nik HDR Efex Pro, using an Indoor 2 preset (which, despite its name, seemed to give good definition to both the sky and the foreground). It did make the clouds too blue, so I decreased the blue saturation in Lightroom. I also enhanced the green that was growing around the tree, as well as the budding leaves. No Photoshop this time around!

Don, the tree really stands out, especially with the bird. I might suggest cropping the left side to bring the tree from the center, and remove the telephone lines in the background. Your choice to remove the blue in the clouds was as good one.   Posted: 05/07/2021 22:58:38

Thanks, Richard. I cropped the image, placing the tree trunk along the 1/3 line on the left side. I used a combination of content aware fill, patch, and spot healing brush to remove the poles and wires. When zoomed in to high magnification, there are some blurry areas from these actions, but they aren't noticeable when the image is resized down.   Posted: 05/08/2021 10:05:57
