Ommegang Brewery by Ray Henrikson

November 2023 - Ommegang Brewery

About the Image(s)

Ommegang Brewery, Cooperstown, NY. Samsung S23+ cell phone camera. Edited in Snapseed. I preferred the monochrome version. The shadow cast by the fence added to the image

The architecture of this brewery has some unique appeal to it with conical, curved and square shapes all interacting together. The B&W treatment brings out those shapes. But, I'm not sure if the fence and shadows add to the image or create distractions. The image is a lot cleaner without them.   Posted: 11/01/2023 23:37:32

Your image has great focus and exposure. The shadow from the fence points my eye right to the Brewery. Compositionally, I think a wider shot in a landscape rather than portrait crop may have been a better choice.   Posted: 11/08/2023 16:48:46

I like this monochrome image and I think the portrait crop works because there is interest in the sky which adds to the shot for me. I would like to see a little more on the right side to complete that building which has been partially cut off.   Posted: 11/09/2023 17:02:40

I cropped the image on the right that way because of a serious distraction on that side that would have destroyed the image.   Posted: 11/29/2023 15:44:39

Good monochrome image but I agree it needs a little more room on the right to set that building with the space. The fence has interesting contrast.   Posted: 11/26/2023 18:51:10

It is vey beautiful B/W photo. I find the radiation of the rays in the clouded sky is very appealing to me. But the white spots in the left side of the sky are distraction to me.   Posted: 11/27/2023 09:32:25

I think that distraction is just a wispy cloud.   Posted: 11/29/2023 15:41:15
