About the Image(s)
We make frequent trips to Lexington and I have photographed the barn many times. This time, I wanted to leave much of the surrounding area. I wanted to bring out the details and rustic wood of the barn on this overcast day. Settings: f/5.6, 1/100 sec., ISO 100 and 32 mm focal length.

This is a lovely image of a quilt barn and its rural surroundings. The barn is nicely offset from center, and the surrounding environment is simple with no distractions. To me, there is a little too much grass in the foreground. And, the upper center sky is washed out. So, starting with your final image, I cropped the image to 16x9 (and also cropped out the brown field on the right), used a linear gradient in LR to darken the upper sky and lower the temperature, and added a vignette.   Posted: 11/02/2023 00:05:57

Once again your post processing has brought out more detail in the shot and made it pop, particularly the barn itself. I like David's crop because it eliminates the brown fields on the left which are a bit distracting. This is a very pleasant and tranquil scene.   Posted: 11/09/2023 17:19:05

I love finding quilt barns. This is a wonderful example. I agree with David's crop. There was too much grass in front and on the side. The gray skies in the original are compatible with the gray in the barn siding. Makes the quilt design become more prominent which is the key, I think.   Posted: 11/26/2023 20:08:52

It is a beautiful landscape image. I like your post processing of the sky and cloud formation. I agree that a crop of the foreground would eliminate some unnecessary distractions.   Posted: 11/27/2023 09:30:32

I would have cropped on the left to get rid of the brown distraction and would get the barn and its interesting symbol out of the center of the image.   Posted: 11/29/2023 15:48:27
