Shadows by Ray Henrikson

May 2022 - Shadows

About the Image(s)

Photographed at a recent visit to the Clark Museum in Williamstown, Mass. The shadows and arrangement of chairs caught my attention and talked to me. I tried monochrome but the tinge of spring color adds to the image. The reflection pool, which the chairs face, is dry. I used a Nikon D5100 with a Nikkor zoom lens. The image was delicately processed in Picassa.

To me, this image is not about the shadows, but rather about the chairs facing the serene scene. If this were my image, I would crop out the metal chairs and tables on the right and make this image a square (1:1) format.   Posted: 05/08/2022 17:27:50

I think the lines of the shadows are interesting. For my taste there is a little too much in the frame. I think you could crop the left half of the frame out. That would eliminate the brightness on the left, that pulls my eye from the shadows. I think this would look good in monochrome.   Posted: 05/11/2022 20:27:06

It's fine looking scene. It's an image with several separate possibilities. On that I'm with David, Cindy, less is better. Assume shadow is one story, mono perhaps, then the bottom corner, without chairs, without trees, could stand on its own as one image. Just a thought.   Posted: 05/12/2022 10:48:28
