Watson Lake Arizona by Phyllis Peterson

May 2022 - Watson Lake Arizona

About the Image(s)

Watson Lake, Arizona was taken at Watson Lake which is near Prescott, Arizona.
The photo was taken at Dawn before the sun rose and I was able to capture the pink light in the sky.
I enjoyed watching the sunlight as it lit the rock formations.

The camera I used was a Nikon D810 with a 24-70 mm lens.
Camera settings were 1/8 sec at f/5.0 and ISO 400. I processed the image in Lightroom, decreasing the
highlights and raising the shadows. I also enhanced the vibrance and contrast.

First, I commend you for getting up so early to get this shot with such beautiful lighting and a nice wisp of clouds to add some pink to the sky! Those islands of rocks jutting into the middle of the lake create so much interest. I like how you shot them at an angle which makes the static landscape more dynamic. Well done!   Posted: 05/06/2022 05:02:41

Wow! Beautiful scene that is handled so well. I like the soft light and subtle colors. It sets a peaceful mood. Your depth of field and focus are perfect. This is ready for printing and framing. Love it!   Posted: 05/06/2022 09:26:43

Lovely scene, calm and peaceful! well done.

p.s. Just a thought, wonder if you have another capture with camera angle down a little bit, or earlier in the pink hours, wonder how's that look?   Posted: 05/12/2022 10:57:01

My immediate thought when seeing this image was to wonder how it would look in monochrome. What would Ansel have done with this scene?   Posted: 05/19/2022 10:07:27
