December 2021 - Eye of Xindian

About the Image(s)

The north entrance of Xindian Interchange (& north entrance) on National Highway No. 3 has a big circle here. It forms a circle like big watery eyes and is called the "Eye of Xindian" by travelers who come to enjoy the night view. The most recommended viewing time for photographers is 1 hour before and after sunset.
My Nikon D810 was on tripod with f/18 ISO 100 and carious speed from 5 seconds to 25 seconds. The post-processing of local enhancement, saturation and contrast were done in Viveza3 and finally cropped in PhotoShop.

This is the kind of spot I would love to find for night photography. You captured the entire scene well with what appears to be a wide-angle lens. There is interest in the foreground, middle and background. The long-exposure worked very well for capturing the car lights. The sunset is perfectly exposed, but draws all of my attention to it because it the brightest area in the image. The trees are a little too dark. If you have the raw file, it might help to increase the shadows to bring out some detail in the trees.   Posted: 12/01/2021 10:38:23

Nice shot of the highway with the lights in long exposure. Good capture of the scene at the blue hour with the crescent moon high in the sky and the evening sunlight over the city. The plants on the left are distracting and it might be improved by cropping some off the left. I agree with David that the trees could be lightened.   Posted: 12/02/2021 15:27:35

I like the strong circle of the road and the way it emerges from the bottom right hand corner. I also enjoy the back lighting although I think I would have toned it down because it is very strong in the image and the best part of the image is the circle. I agree with David that a little more detail in the trees would be good and personally I would clone out the light branch on the left.   Posted: 12/05/2021 15:32:04

An interesting and good example of night photography. I cannot offer any suggestions for improvement.   Posted: 12/14/2021 12:53:06

This is a beautiful night scene with a strong composition. Love the sky, crescent moon, shape of the road and the long exposure on the car lights. My only suggestions are to brighten the left side hill to show a little more detail and clone or crop out the lighter leaf coming out of the left side.   Posted: 12/16/2021 09:25:40
