Songdo Central Park by Bai Chuang Shyu

June 2021 - Songdo Central Park

About the Image(s)

Songdo Central Park is a public park in the Songdo district of Incheon, South Korea. The park is the centerpiece of Songdo’s green space plan, inspired by New York City's Central Park. Central Park is a public zone in the center of Korea's first international city, covering 101 acres; the park covers almost 10% of Songdo’s total area.
I was impressed with the night scene of water reflection of the skyscrapers surround the lake. My Nikon D810 was on tripod with f/14, 30 sec and ISO 125. Local saturation and contrast was done in Vivwza2 and cropped in PhotoShop.

I, too, like the reflections. They add nicely to the entire photo. I would like to have seen how this would look if taken at sunset or sunrise. Then the sky might have added an entirely new dimension. As is, the sky adds little to the photo.   Posted: 06/01/2021 10:41:10

Don, thank for your comments, I fully agree with you that I should take this photo in the sunset. I used to attend the International conference and take the chance to have photos overseas. But most of the time when I was able to go to the place after the meeting adjourned, the day was already getting dark!   Posted: 06/01/2021 22:53:44

This image has a wonderful composition with the leading lines pointing to the lit building in the background, and the lit building being placed ~1/3 from the right. Although you missed the sunset, you can still increase the brightness of the sky and reflection using Lightroom's graduated filter. I took the liberty to apply it to the sky and reflection to bring out some brightness (I also adjusted the color temperature and tint a little. I'm sure you can do a much better job with the raw file.   Posted: 06/02/2021 06:06:29

Another beautiful cityscape at night. The buildings are crisp and sharp and the reflections are lovely. You have a very pleasing composition, as well. I know that sometimes we have to take the time of day (or night) that we are available, but I wish you would have been just a little earlier to catch the blue sky as it turned to night. Be that as it may, you have a lovely photograph.   Posted: 06/10/2021 10:01:14

nice image that works,
recently, I have tried a few shot with PS' 'replace sky' function, not bad. Thus, I have taking a few extra shots, whenever, on site, to record the sky, just in case that I have a backup plan B. just saying..   Posted: 06/15/2021 15:27:26

Charlie! it is very interesting. I would like to try. Where could I find this 'replace sky' function in PS? Or is it a plug in?   Posted: 06/15/2021 23:27:04

I like the image and the time of day it was taken. I felt the image could be a little brighter. I first put your image through Topaz DeNoise Ai, than Topaz Sharpen Ai. I then increased the brightness a little and put a small frame around the picture(3pix) This brings you eye into the image.   Posted: 06/16/2021 12:49:46
