About the Image(s)

Photographed at the Fenimore Museum in Cooperstown, NY while having lunch, under cover, in the rain. I used my Olympus TG-6 camera, hand-held. Cropped and transformed to monochrome in edit (but original scene was essentially monochromatic). I was trying to make the best out of a not very good day for photography.

I find that rainy days tend to be better for photography than bright, sunny days. It's just that it's hard to go out into the rain to take pictures. There is a lot more mood on a rainy days like this. The trees stand out much better because the background is so clean. Maybe, without the railing and stone pillars, you might have had a good silhouette of barren trees. I like the monochrome conversion.   Posted: 05/01/2021 08:56:14

I don't know quite what to make of this photo. I see the "man made" structure in the foreground and the natural material in the background. The foreground moves my eye from one side to the other and the background is still. Do I need a subject here some place?   Posted: 05/03/2021 09:07:38

The dreary, rainy day really gave a mood to this photo and helped the trees to stand out without a distracting background. I like the graduated sizes of the trees and you have nice focus and details in the branches. For my taste, I would crop up from the bottom just a bit to crop out the flat stone with the bright reflection in the bottom left and also from the right to eliminate the stone wall in the lower right corner. I think the design of the wrought iron fence adds to your image and the design is a nice contrast to the branches.   Posted: 05/03/2021 21:02:09
