About the Image(s)
Camera: Nikon Z7, Lens: 24-200 mm
Settings: 1/600 sec at f/6.3 and ISO 800
This photo was taken this spring at the Botanical Garden in Phoenix.
I was fascinated with this butterfly with the green and black markings.
The flowers in the photo were very bright and one of the edits I did was
to tone down the yellow so that the butterfly gets your attention.
So Malachite Butterfly #1 is the unedited and Malachite Butterfly #2 is
edited to tone down the yellow flowers.

I like the picture of the butterfly which for me is the main subject of the image and I appreciate that you tried to subdue the yellow flowers (are your final image and the original the right way round?) I notice that there is another butterfly lower down but it is rather insignificant and doesn't contribute to the image so I would crop closer to the main butterfly to really make it pop.   Posted: 10/02/2024 20:03:22

It appears the edited image is the one labeled "Original." If so, I like how you toned down the bright yellow flowers. However, I might suggest you lighten the brown butterfly in the lower part of the image or crop it out altogether.   Posted: 10/02/2024 20:40:46

I thought I got the original and the post processed photos right. If not, I apologize. It's a very cheerful photo. Love the colors. I like the lightened lower right butterfly in the larger photo above. I would also suggest simplifying the photo by cloning out the single bud in the top left and the partial flowers on the top and middle right.   Posted: 10/11/2024 15:43:28

I like the picture, thinking it might even crop in further, perhaps almost to square, which will high-light the butterfly as main subject and the yellow as secondary, my suggestion.   Posted: 10/13/2024 15:48:15

I just realized that I have mis-labeled the photos. Clearly the "original" is the one that I have toned down the yellow flowers. I like the suggestions for cropping out the buds and partial flowers. Thanks!   Posted: 10/25/2024 20:51:40
