Ren Cen from Milliken Park by Bill Buchanan, HonPSA, FGDC

January 2022 - Ren Cen from Milliken Park

About the Image(s)

This image was photographed at Milliken State Park along the new Riverwalk at the Detroit River. It was photographed with my Canon 7D MKII as a +2, -2 & 0 exposure at f8.0. It was processed in NIK HDR Efex Pro 2 using a landscape preset with a slight edge vignette. It was further processed in Photoshop CC 2022 in Raw using the Auto setting. and I added Topaz AI Clear.

BTW, the reason I didn't include the entire carousel is because from this view theres a metal sculpture light stand on the left.

The reflection really helps to tie things together. Good impact. I keep coming back to the yellow tree so that is working nicely as an anchor. Maybe make a selection of just the reflecting pool and run an extra round of noise reduction there? I can't tell if it is texture in the tiles or just some grit that is there, but it comes over (to me) as noise. The shadows in the foreground are nice and strong but they seem weaker back on the buildings. That can be put down to distance, but I would probably try to burn them down just a bit more.   Posted: 01/05/2022 18:16:08

Hi Bill, absolutely a beautiful dreamy image. I would eliminate one small item that draws my eye like a magnet. By the corner of the pool is a green sign. This image is outstanding. Topaz AI Clear works very well.   Posted: 01/08/2022 20:16:35

A very nice image with the sky, pretty tree and reflection, they all work together nicely. 2 things, good catch by Tom on the small sign and this image is VERY sharp and clear. To the point it doesn't look real, more like a very detailed drawing.   Posted: 01/18/2022 10:32:51

This composition works. It has an interesting view with foreground water, a circus-like tent, a tree and, the background buildings. It is sharp and has beautiful colors. I agree the small green sign should be removed.   Posted: 01/18/2022 16:07:56

nice blend and composition, a little too yellow on my screen. I would remove the green sign.   Posted: 01/19/2022 00:07:00
