About the Image(s)

Something simple this month. It is, I think, a good exposure. It is balanced. It was raining.

Very nice composition and I agree that your exposure is spot on for this image. We don't see too many monochrome images in our group and it is refreshing to see this one Mark. I always felt that mono was much more difficult to produce great images due to the lack of color distractions. You have given us a classic landscape of one of my favorite subjects--the lighthouse. Nice balance with the tree on the left and the rocks at the bottom give us nice foreground interest and detail. You even have a leading line with the path up to the house. The image is stark and I feel that is its appeal. I can almost hear Simon and Garfunkel singing "A hazy shade of winter".
By the way, how fortunate to get the gull on the chimney.   Posted: 06/04/2022 10:52:12

I waited four days for the gull. I was hoping for an eagle.   Posted: 06/04/2022 14:31:38

Maybe a day or two more and that eagle would haver arrived.   Posted: 06/12/2022 15:39:06

Mark, I agree with Bruce. What a beautiful image. I love all the textures. I also, love black and white. I would not change a thing on this image. Very good moody image.   Posted: 06/05/2022 17:47:39

Beautiful shot, Blacks and Whites and shading Mark. The sky and water are almost like Hi Key, I think, which makes the house truly stand out. Truly artistic.   Posted: 06/18/2022 13:44:16

I really like this one, Mark. Sometimes simple is good. I also agree with Bruce. The monochrome is a nice change of pace. You've got rich tonal range throughout the image and wonderful composition. Sitting here, in the Southern California desert, I can feel this image, and I love it. The only tweak I'd try is to play with the color mixer and bring out some detail or darker tones in the sky. The lighthouse in the upper right corner of the frame blends into the sky a little. Other than that, really nice job!   Posted: 06/29/2022 22:31:40

Nice capture and processing. It has a moody feel
because of the tonality. Very nicely done.   Posted: 06/29/2022 22:44:40
