About the Image(s)

I was out and about doing errands and passed this Church. The clouds were so beautiful that I drove all the way home, got my camera and went back. A storm was approaching and I was hoping to get some dramatic clouds. The storm went around and I didn’t get what I was thinking I would get. So, I stayed until dark and made some very interesting images. This is one which I did in both black and white and color. Shot at ISO 200 31 mm f/9 1/250sec with an Olympus OMD Mark III

Very interesting image. Like the lines, good contrast, nice curves in the clouds, and very relaxing image. Looks holy and spiritual. I love the reflections too. Lines are pointing to the sky and I love the birds in the image. The only thing I may do is crop some off the top and went into camera raw and auto Geometry to get line straight. I also put a black border around the image to frame the glass.   Posted: 07/04/2021 11:17:11

Yes, I like the crop on the top. I fiddled with the lines, I think because I have astigmatism, I can never get them straight. ( I do it in LR. Never tried it in PS. Probably, because I don't know how!)

I do like the crop. I, too, have an astigmatism, but my glasses seem to help correcting it.. To do it in PS, select all, go to Edit - Transform- then play with the different options. The only downside is that after trying each one you have to save and then go back in the history to the previous step to eliminate what you don't like. Good Luck   Posted: 07/07/2021 09:24:55

I like the strength of this image Lane. The repeating patterns work well and the peaks of the roof form a nice line. The grids in the windows create interest in my opinion and are enhanced by the reflections of the clouds. As an added bonus you give us a flock of birds at the top. Great.
I also like Linda's adjustment, but would like to see a bit more at the top of her crop to include a bit of the clouds to give a frame. Nice image.   Posted: 07/07/2021 18:15:29

A great deal of impact in this photo. Composition with three sections of the church is spot on! The cloud reflections are wonderful and they complement what they are reflecting. The glass and the sky are different but in your photo they are one. The birds add a nice touch.   Posted: 07/08/2021 18:51:14

Fine, original composition. To follow Mark's comment about "three sections," your composition has a hinted reference to the interior of the church, which might have a triptych inside, and of course to the Trinity. The look upward to the sky in both reality and reflection is a reference to heaven, and the birds suggest doves, even if they are not actual doves.   Posted: 07/19/2021 23:43:46
