A Bee and a Flower by Stuart Caine

June 2022 - A Bee and a Flower

About the Image(s)

This image was taken, when we took a cruise from Sydney, Australia to New Zealand in 2009. It was taken in a flower garden in New Zealand. I did a tight crop to bring the Bee on the Flower. I ran it through Topaz Studio 2. from there it went through Topaz Denoise AI and Topaz Sharpen AI. Then I ran it through Gigapixel .
The camera I used was a:
Canon T1i
IS0 100
Lens at 55mm

Another title possibility is "Busy Bee". I like the way the radial lines draw my eye to the bee. I think though, that I would like it better if those lines were somewhat less prominent.   Posted: 06/03/2022 16:54:30

I like the tight, square crop and the perspective. The color palette is very pleasing. The lines are a bit busy; however, I really do like them. The overexposed areas along the left side and the upper left are a bit distracting to me. Perhaps darkening or cloning to extend the pedals would help.

On my screen the bee is out of focus or the shutter speed was too slow. The photo is way too bright. I do not think it can be saved.   Posted: 06/10/2022 23:58:24

This was a large flower on a branch of a bunch of flower. It was a shot deep into the flower and the bee was moving around. I don't feel that 1/400 of a second was slow, as the camera set all the exposures. This also was not taken with a close up Len and the sun was shinning brightly. I agree with some of you comments, I was playing with the new advancements with the Gigapixel, to see what the new upgrades would do. Thanks for your comments, its appreciated.   Posted: 06/11/2022 10:21:12

Gigapixel cannot save blown out out of focus photos. Maybe someday.   Posted: 06/11/2022 11:44:14

Hi Stuart, I like the colors and composition of the photo, the radial lines in the flower take you right to the center of the flower and the bee. I agree with others that these lines are a little harsh, taking away the delicate nature of a flower. The bee could have been sharper. But overall I like the image.   Posted: 06/13/2022 13:30:17
