No Visitors Today by Holly Moore, PPSA

January 2022 - No Visitors Today

About the Image(s)

This image was taken in my daughter's backyard last winter. The settings were: f/9, 400 ISO and 1/250 of a second. My lens was a 24-70 and I used my 5D Mark IV Canon. I did not use a tripod. Cropped slightly, saturated and sharpened.

No Visitors because they are in hibernation. Excellent photograph.   Posted: 01/08/2022 00:13:50

Very nice. Takes me back to my backyard in Maryland. I wanted to see a little more of the top of the trees. I like the way you were able to capture the color of the leaves within the snow. I would try to bring out the reds a little more in Photoshop.   Posted: 01/08/2022 19:45:55

Thanks for your comments. After looking at the photo online, I agree I too would like to see a bit more of the top of the trees. I'm going to go back and check the original.   Posted: 01/17/2022 18:06:51

I love winter scenes, and snow having been driven sideways makes them even more interesting. For the title "No Visitors Today", to me, the image would be improved if it were shot from closer to the feeder so that it could comprise a greater fraction of the image. The image has another element that I think could also form the basis of a compelling image. This is either of the oak trees with the partially snow-covered brown leaves.   Posted: 01/09/2022 10:53:04

Thanks for all of your comments. Yes, I have other shots with just the trees that I thought about submitting.   Posted: 01/17/2022 18:03:26
