About the Image(s)

This image, I would guess was taken about 25 years ago. When my son was down, a few weeks ago , my wife and son cleaned up the garage. They found a carton, that must have had more then 1000 color negatives'. I'm still going through them and converting them from negatives to Digital. (all were saved in plastic sleeves).I think at that time I was using a Minolta Maxium . I first converted the negative. using my "Wolverine" converter. After that I put it through Topaz DeNoise and Topaz Sharpen and a few other items in Studio 2 Ai. This what I came up with. Any suggestions how to improve this negative converted to Digital. The Original image after converting is what came out as the "ORG"

I really like this image. It has interesting and important material in the foreground, at midrange, and at a distance. It tells a very interesting story, and in addition does so with an image that is not often seen. I'd like it still more if the sky more naturally fit with the rest of the image. I would like the greys in the clouds and the greys in the rest of the image to be neutral. Also, the distant jungle growth shows that the atmosphere was not perfectly clear whereas clouds at roughly the same distance are sharp because the atmosphere between the camera and the clouds was very clear. I've not been in the tropics much, but my recollection is that a sky with clouds like this is more often seen in the American Southwest than the tropics. When I began playing with this image, I discovered that it was best to color balance in the first step. Then, a different sky might be substituted for the one in the original. Here is a version of the original. After balancing the color using the clouds, I adjusted some for vignetting.   Posted: 06/02/2021 11:42:40

First I think the slide needs to be cleaned. The color is off and the photo is not sharp. It is a good shot for documenting your trip.   Posted: 06/02/2021 19:06:53

The negative was cleaned, before putting it through thru the Wolverine converter. Being a 20 + year negative, there may have been spots on the negative (not dust) I did not notice. Thanks for bringing it to my attention, because I didn't spot it.   Posted: 06/09/2021 12:46:39

Stuart, It is a nice image, must bring back a lot of memories. Like Robert, I also thought the sky looked out of place, I like what Robert did to it.   Posted: 06/09/2021 15:06:20
