I took this when I was visiting my family in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This photo of my 2nd cousin was taking in 31-degrees weather outside. She agreed to dress up for me and freeze a bit. Shanat performs with her father in different events across the United State. This particularly custom/culture is known as the Fire Dance. I used my Nikon z8 camara ISO 400; F4; Shutter was at 1/40 and learned after I got home that the fire she was holding was to blown out. So I cropped the photo and took away some feathers.

Sharlana, this image caught my eye with the captivating catchlights in her eyes - like fire, to me. Very beautiful. I also noticed that at 1/40 sec shutter speed, the image of your dancing cousin is impressively sharp throughout. I really like this image a lot. Posted: 03/11/2025 08:13:57
