About the Image(s)
I was scrolling through some old images and descovered this one of
poppies on a lightbox from a few years ago. I had dismissed it as the
flowers were very near to the left border.
Since then I had learnt to extend the border in PS using Content Aware
fill or Regenerate so I had another go at it. I was also keen to use
Blending modes on a texture I had which matched as a background.
I scrolled through the Blending Modes and decided on this one which I
think was Difference. I then returned it to Lightroom for some more
general basic adjustments.

Hazel, Generative fill has become a regular part of my process as well. It is nice to salvage old favorites with minor imperfections. The difference blend mode creates a pleasing palette.   Posted: 11/06/2023 15:44:18

Hazel, This is a very busy image with much in it to occupy the viewer's attention and for me that is perhaps its undoing in the sense that there is no obvious focal point upon which to rest the gaze. Having said that, I like the colour palette you have obtained with your Difference Blending Mode which gives a sense of colours beyond the normal colour spectrum and with a hint of solarisation or posterization. I also like the gradient colours in the background which work well. There is a feeling that the arrangement of the poppies are the result of human intervention and I like the way that this pattern is interrupted by the solitary, unconnected petals at the top and bottom left. When I first viewed your image, I found it interesting that I saw the violet shapes at the bottom as a pale blue iris and not the green leaves of the original.   Posted: 11/15/2023 16:16:08

Hi Hazel,
I kinda like your original image but maybe with a solid yellow background or something similar.   Posted: 11/19/2023 17:09:34

I love the poppies on the light box with the high key and purples. The use of AI to fill in the side is a good use of AI.
Personally I like the pop of the high key original image better than the textured blended one, as the texture seems muddy to me and the difference looses some of the drama of the poppy colors and creates think dark black lines. Just my own taste, but fun to see you play with textures and blend modes.   Posted: 11/25/2023 01:10:16
