About the Image(s)

I shot my granddaughter in a field of sunflowers awhile back, and decided to make it into a Halloween themed image. I took a photo of an Orthodox church that I walk by often and added it in the distance. The birds added to the atmosphere of the scene. The sunset and coloring gave it a more Halloween look.

This is great and effective!!
Just a few comments Tom.
I almost missed your granddaughter because she blends into the flowers so much. Maybe just make her brighter than the surrounding area. If you meant to keep her low key, then you succeeded.
There are two areas that catch my eye unnecessarily. The black blotch on the upper left and the bright spoon shaped cloud in the upper right. If you could balance those so they fit more into the tone of the photo, to my eye, this will be more super!   Posted: 11/03/2021 14:21:58

Hi Kathy,
Thanks for the suggestions. I do need to make her stand out better and I'll fix the clouds.   Posted: 11/05/2021 08:32:15

i love the feel of the final image, the church and the birds against that sky, wow. The sunflowers are composited in nicely. I did not even see the granddaughter until I looked at the guide images, not sure, she might blend in a little too well...
very creative!   Posted: 11/12/2021 22:16:36

Tom, I had the same reaction as others. This is a very compelling image. My first instinct was to suggest just removing her from this already powerful image. On further consideration I really like how her head glows similar to the back lit flowers and I would love to have you accentuate her more to make her a more prominent subject.   Posted: 11/14/2021 12:04:28

Thanks Brad, I'll do that on the next version.   Posted: 11/22/2021 12:39:46

Tom, you have done an artistic creation with your compost! The sunflowers, the birds, the orthodox church, and sunrise all work well into an integrated Halloween whole.

How about making your granddaughter a little more prominent? I almost missed her when I first looked at this.

The others above have good suggestions.   Posted: 11/17/2021 14:10:43

Hi Henry,
I'm planning on a new version with that suggestion. Thanks.   Posted: 11/22/2021 12:40:33

Hi Tom, I love how you transformed a field of sunflowers into a low key spooky image. Great use of directional light. I agree with Kathy regarding the clouds and making your grand daughter a little more prominent. But I might suggest doing that by sharpening the edges of her sweater and losing the shadow on the left side of her back. There is a minor vertical line also visible to the left of your grand daughter. I really have enjoyed your conceptual images!   Posted: 11/18/2021 23:53:11

Hi Tom,
What a super image, love the colour and mood you created. I really like the way the light catches the side profile of your grand daughter, and her presence there makes a story for me. To me eye there appears to be a box like sign of editing on the left of her, a line horizontal and a vertical line. Great image.   Posted: 11/28/2021 16:16:14
