About the Image(s)

On a recent trip to the Adirondacks, this small grove of trees at the entrance to the cabin road caught my attention. So at 11pm my son in law and I went out with my tripod to do some 8 second exposures at about f22 ISO 800. I did a 10 second delay timer so I could get myself in the shot. There was a dirt road, but I wanted to give the impression of driving along a road so I used a road image that I had from around my house. My son-in-law used a very powerful flashlight to light paint the trees and myself. Had to take many images to get it right and I actually merged two tree images together to balance out the brightness of the trees. I moved around to make it blurry as I thought it would make it more interesting and a bit scary.

Very scary! And great project for you and your sil. I'd say you got exactly what you went out for. I really like the yellow line taking us further into the dark woods. brrrr

I have a small suggestion for you play with and that is overlaying a texture to make it a bit more grungy and scary.

Hmmm. I almost never use textures, actually probably never. I just don't think about them, and am envious of those that make it work on their images. I'll give it a go and if I have time, post it here.
Thanks for the challenge.   Posted: 07/08/2021 13:41:43

Tom, I love what you've done with this one. I've played around with light painting at night and it does take a lot of trial and error. You nailed it, very eerie. I have nothing to add. I'd click save as and move on to your next creation.   Posted: 07/07/2021 20:06:28

Kathy, not sure I can do a decent texture, but here is.   Posted: 07/08/2021 16:45:47

I think you did a fine job... there are lots of choices. I have tons of textures in folders that I've taken over the years. Concrete, sand, walls... you name it.
I don't think you can go wrong with any texture on this image. Here's one I applied..   Posted: 07/17/2021 23:00:22

Thanks for the suggestion. I'll try it more often.

Tom, I like the concept and creation that you worked out in this image. A lot of experimentation must have gone into this. On my monitor I cannot see you - perhaps I should brighten my monitor or you should brighten yourself slightly.

Kathy has fun ideas for textures.   Posted: 07/22/2021 11:20:28
