About the Image(s)

How I did it:

I am trying some of the impressionistic techniques Charles Needle in his book Impressionistic Photography describes. What I want to show the viewer is flowers, not realistically but as an impression of flowers but as a colorful representation that one can understand the base image are flowers but as say the artist Monet would represent them. I did a number of variations so I am not positive how I did this but I think I did a long exposure through a variable neutral density filter while zooming a 24-105 lens. In post processing in PS Camera Raw I played with the sliders to get an effect that pleased me. As I play further with these impressionistic techniques, I will have to record what I do for each image.

What do you think and what would you do differently?

Henry, I can hear the flowers singing! This image has a wonderful movement, balance and proportion. Your explorations are really paying off. I wouldn't do anything differently. I might play with leaving a small amount of the flower at the center more in focus to bring a focal point to the image but it works as it is.   Posted: 06/09/2021 22:03:45

Henry,
I believe Charles would be thrilled that you're working on his technique. He's our speaker this month at my camera club so I'm looking forward to learning more about this technique.
It's a great image and the only thing that seems out of place is the top right. It's a bit lighter than the rest of the image so you could either tone it down or crop as it doesn't seem essential to the story, or.... is it?
