About the Image(s)

On a flat overcast day, I went searching for images of fall along a forested trail crossing a gentle creek. I took many photos in this location of the creek, a trail, fallen leaves, and the forest, this being the best. In Adobe Bridge Camera Raw I made a number of minor adjustments including color adjuster, exposure, and contrast, cropped slightly, and spot healing. I admit the colors are a bit intense from being realistic but that is my personal preference. What do you think and what would you do differently?

Equipment and settings: Canon EOS R5, canon 24-105 zoom lens, Iso 1600, f8, 1/90

A really autumnal scene. I like the increase in vibrance. My only suggestion would be to crop a little more off the bottom (ie to the branch) to remove the light area and perhaps clone out the light area in the new bottom left hand corner. This tends to catch my eye.   Posted: 11/17/2023 05:18:06

Hi Henry, You've shown us an interesting scene. I like your processing, but I would isolate the water and drop the highlights to see if that would take the glare out of the image. I agree that cropping off the bottom of your image to the heavy, black branch coming in from the left seems to make the image stronger.   Posted: 11/18/2023 21:14:05

Julie, I agree with you that cropping off some of the bottom would improve this imag   Posted: 11/19/2023 18:25:55

Hi Henry, I like the vibrance you added, but I think the green leaves in the back are a little bright, my eye keeps going there. I agree about cropping out the branch in the water and also the tree on the right - its trunk is distracting. The picture really does make you feel fall is coming to a close.   Posted: 11/20/2023 12:49:49

Hi Henry, I agree about cropping off the bottom of the image - maybe up to the edge of the leaves on the left, and darkening the green leaves on the tree a bit, as Catherine had suggested. I think the horizon might be slanted a little. I wonder if clarity can be increased in Lightroom?   Posted: 11/20/2023 19:49:17

Hi,Henry,
I like the curve, the colors and the reflections; it's an interesting image in the fall.
I usually like to clean up around the edges of the image; the tree on the upper left side caught my eyes. Do you think it would be better to crop it off?   Posted: 11/28/2023 17:04:32
