About the Image(s)

Whilst wandering around the river area of Adelaide I spotted this lovely staircase with it's shining railing. I liked playing with the image that I took and thought that a monochrome presentation looked better. I played with the cropping and contrast to produce this image. Please tell me what you would like to do with it.

This is an attractive image which, for me, works better in monochrome. You have straightened it up nicely. You could crop it slightly so that the hand rail goes diagonally from corner to corner but I am not sure this is such a good idea.   Posted: 09/15/2023 15:31:24

Love the black and white tone so you get the textures of rouhgh and smooth. I agree with Andrew about cropping the photo to have the left leg start in the corner if you can. I also might try cropping the top to the step where the handrail turns. It makes it seem more abstract.   Posted: 09/18/2023 11:41:54

Hey Julie, Nice shot. I tried the crop thing but it did not work one way or the other for me. I do agree the original needed to be cropped and straightened. I also put the image into Silver Efex and when I brought it back in, I added a Luminosity Mask of around 50% to just make it pop a little more. Your submission was fine and it reminded me of some street photography I saw from a magazine in New York. You had the right idea. Bravo.   Posted: 09/18/2023 18:56:06

Julie, this is a fun abstraction which centers the eye on the geometric design of the railing. Monochrome handling is perfect for this image. To me your contrast setting is where it should be. Great image.   Posted: 09/22/2023 10:35:02
