As the Summer is coming, more and more beautiful flower pictures are showing up in the social media timelines. It’s aways awesome to have some rare species to shoot and show off. However, I challenged myself to take photos for very normal species, like this small dandelion. I wished to show its beauty is no less than others. So, I laid on the ground shooting this little thing with a cannon for a while. I tried several settings with different aperture sizes. This is the one with a medium aperture size setting. I don’t know if it works. What do you think? Thank you.
This catches the attention - the only part of the photograph which is sharp is the main stem and a bit of the foreground. That's fine - it works well. My only suggestion would be to remove the broken stem which catches the attention too much. Good shot!   Posted: 05/13/2023 10:04:35

Hi Lin. It was nice to meet you and good luck. I like the depth of field and the colors. I might crop it tighter to take out the black at the top. I do like square crops - not everyone does, but I think it would work here. Pretty photo.   Posted: 05/22/2023 07:46:01

Lin, congratulations on immortalizing a common flower that we see in spring! Your use of a 300mm setting makes the dandelion clear and sharp while blurring the background.
Were it me, I would be tempted to crop in on the dandelion and place it off center into one of the 1/3rd positions.
Nice work.
I am sorry to lose you from the group. Come back when you can once again devote time to photography.   Posted: 05/22/2023 15:14:17

Hi Lin, I like dandelions balls and think they are fun to photograph. I'd like to see this one cropped in to remove some of the grass. Sorry to see you are leaving the group. I wish you much fun with your photography in the future!   Posted: 05/24/2023 06:58:46
