About the Image(s)

We drove to Darwin last December. A mere 1,900 miles. We went to the beach and had some fun photographing some kite surfers who enjoyed performing stunts for us to photograph. We were standing in the salty water up to our knees and the surfers would come very close to us.
Please tell me how you would have processed this image differently.

Hey Julie. Great shot. great depth of field. The background is just blurred enough. I love the facial expression and I like the wake the board is causing. Very sharp. Were you in a boat? Without lens info and other metadata, it is hard to tell how you captured this. Nice travel image. If this is a draw for this area, you might want to see if you can do something commercially like sell it to a travel magazine, or to the local tourist board. Right Place... Right Time.   Posted: 06/02/2022 23:04:07

Thanks for your comments Don. No, we weren't in a boat. We were standing knee deep in the sea and the wave surfers were showing off for the cameras. They were circling us, hence the trees in the background.   Posted: 06/08/2022 07:08:57

Wow Julie this is soooo sharp! Can't get better with his expression of joy and the colors are great. As Don mentioned the DOF is perfect.   Posted: 06/17/2022 07:50:05

Yes, well taken, we Brits would never walk out into the sea like that - too cold :)
I like the crop, perhaps needs a bit more on the left hand side as he is looking that way. Nice to have removed the stuff on the beach. As the others have said, nice and sharp and you've frozen the wave.   Posted: 06/19/2022 12:25:05

This just makes me smile. You can tell the surfer is having as much fun as you are! I am interested in the fact he has lots of tattoos on his left let and right arm. :)   Posted: 06/23/2022 15:20:08

Julie, I think you captured an exciting image and did a perfect job in post processing. The excitement in the man's face and wake from the surfboard add to the interest. The blur of the background concentrates the viewer's eye on the figure. If possible, you might try blurring the sea-beach line a little more.   Posted: 06/24/2022 09:20:45
