About the Image(s)

Something different this time! We were traveling from Brisbane to Adelaide by road when we spotted a small aircraft doing what looked like acrobatic manoeuvres in the distance. When we got closer we discovered that it was a small aeroplane that was spreading chemicals onto a cotton crop. We pulled over and spent about 15 minutes watching and photographing the plane. As he left the area, the pilot flew over us, waggled the plane's wings and let out a puff of the chemical.

Hi Julie.
A nice sharp image. I think the shutter speed could have been slightly slower to get a little more blur in the plane's propeller.
I like the colours and the diagonal line of the composition.
A great image, well done!

I am impressed with these measures the government will go to to prevent the human transmission of COVID 19 from Queensland into South Australia   Posted: 05/10/2021 19:00:56

I think you've captures the plane very well, it's nice and sharp. Always good to capture a subject like this when you get the chance. Nice diagonal positioning in the frame too. I appreciate you may not have had much time but if the shutter speed has been more like 1/250th sec. the prop would have been blurred and given a better feel of speed.   Posted: 05/12/2021 11:03:09

I can see you did some good processing work! The original was rather dark. Really good job in the processing!
I second the other remarks: good composition, good framing, nice sharp detail.   Posted: 05/15/2021 03:37:05

Hi Julie. Nice editing work! Love the subject. The primary colors of the airplane and the sky are a nice contrast (warm/cool). The diagonal definitely helps imply movement. I would agree that perhaps the shutter speed could be slowed a bit. Like the sharpness of the shot. The crop works well. Nice work!   Posted: 05/20/2021 09:16:56

Julie, I like it! It is simple, the plane has a nice tilt, you have caught the slight puff of chemical. The prop - I like that your exposure time has captured the prop sharply so that you can see it is a 5 bladed prop used in crop dusting planes. Some viewers would like a slower, blurred motion. To each his own.

Your lightness/darkness is spot on and you cloned out the power lines of the original beautifully.

If you wanted to play in Photoshop, you could add some clouds to the background but I believe you do not like to manipulate so I think you are perfect as you have done it.   Posted: 05/20/2021 10:48:02

That's a great story! I LOVE the angle, the puff of chemicals, the yellow against the blue. What a capture!!   Posted: 05/24/2021 11:38:35

Really nice editing. Love the contrasting yellow and blue. I might crop it a bit more. Nice capture.   Posted: 05/25/2021 08:52:35
