About the Image(s)

Sony A550 – Tamron 70-200mm 2.8 @ 70mm ISO 200 1/60 F8

I took this image while strolling along Bide beach on one of those overcast, blustery days that’s good for blowing the cobwebs out but not much more.

When I got home and looked at this image, I thought it did not say what the mood was like. So using Silver Exfex Pro 3 I have tried to create what the mod was like on the day, there were large breakers far out and rolling in and I liked the formation of the rock. Just added the mood, I think I started with one Antique Plate 1 and altered the settings till I got what I was after. Then took to PS to do some gentle balancing. I quite like this but I know it will be disliked over here.

I think the use of the rocks to lead the viewer works well. I see the water is rough and get the feeling of storms. iI also feels cold and dreary.

The color for me brings out more depth, the B&W is a bit flat. Did the Antique Plate cause the graininess? Not sure I like that, however, it does add to the feeling you were after so it works.   Posted: 05/05/2022 09:37:55

Paul, what a great and somewhat dangerous location. Your adventures sure have some wonderful opportunities for unique landscapes. The B/W conversion with Antique Plate does give a very spooky look. Your take and what you like is the most important consideration. My only idea or question is do you want all of the bottom part of the image? If yes, fine. Another idea is crop the top and bottom and make a square image?

I really love the location from where you shot the image.   Posted: 05/06/2022 08:06:30

I prefer the composition that the treatment, but the aim (antique) is well achieved.
However, I am pleased to see this kind of preset and effect, and as Paul mentioned, you have done what you like and this is the most important.
Thanks to have done it and shared with us.   Posted: 05/18/2022 08:40:55
