The Morning Trek #13 by M. Arfan Asif, APSA, MPSA

October 2021 - The Morning Trek #13

About the Image(s)

The camel was the 'Ship of the Desert' before the 4WD replaced them. They are still very important and camel racing is an important sport in this part of the region. The camels here are shown in their early morning rounds practicing and keeping fit for the races that are held in the cooler months of the year. The image was taken with my 70-300mm lens that I hardly used but which was helpful to get close to the elements from a distance. The dust off was important to be enhanced for this near silhouette image which has been taken with a pictorial approach. The aperture was F8 with 1/2000 sec Shutter speed using Canon 5D Mk2 on manual mode. A thin 2 pixel stroke was added to define the edge of the frame. Your comments.

The subject is great and the dust adds to the story. Lots to work with and with some tweaking it could be very strong.

For me, I would like to see slightly more detail in the subjects, less boarder as it distracts from the dark image and a little less highlight in the dust. With the amount of light on the dust, the eye is pulled to the dust areas and away from the subjects.   Posted: 10/01/2021 16:21:59

Great travel image. There was enough ambient light to see details in the Camels and riders. Love the story about Camel racing. Yes the dust makes this image.   Posted: 10/03/2021 09:31:04

This is a lovely digital image that is going to make a fabulous print. You could try and lift the front rider and camels a touch but I like it the way it is. This is a magic travel image.   Posted: 10/15/2021 07:01:46
