About the Image(s)

Our 8 year old great granddaughter was playing in a dirt pile and having fun. Her mother came out and gave her bubbles to blow. I shot a video in 4K and 60 frames a second on my iPhone 12 Pro Max and harvested off one frame and edited into a moody quiet look. By doing this with the app Video 2 Photo, I was able to capture the exact moment before the bubble broke. I edited out many of the background distractions to emphasize her quiet serene expression. Dirty hands and all. Jerry

What a moment! The work on the background is well done and gives strong emphasis on the girl and bubble. I like the way she is holding the bubble stick, it becomes a second focal point when viewing the image. A great story with the dirty hands and all.

This could be a competition image in my book.

I have done some video extraction and found it works well in situations like this. Now with Pro Capture I can shoot as high as 60fps in RAW format which I like even more, as I have more control in processing later.

Yes, getting that decisive moment is so important in many situations.
I makes just being lucky a lot easier.

Moments like your birds on the sign become a little more possible.

When I was a high school teacher (Band Director), I had one rule.

"Be at the right place, at the right time, with the right equipment and the right attitude, ready to concentrate." It also applies to our photography.   Posted: 06/03/2021 16:45:40

That is a great rule for many things.

Absolutely the "decisive moment". The vignetting really enhances the girl and bubble.   Posted: 06/03/2021 20:14:15

Great image ! Maybe crop in a bit from the right and left???   Posted: 06/04/2021 13:17:17

I love the moment you have captured and the relationship between the girl and the bubble, this sits all perfectly time and very well captured. I am not a fan of the area to the right and the relationship it is having with the area far left. I found when turning this to a square image and cropped from the left the image and the concentration on the girl and the bubble improved greatly.   Posted: 06/10/2021 06:55:14

Beautiful moment captured. The storyline is well defined. I would prefer to reduce the black zone on the right and left as it has no detail, though it does frame the subject well. I would prefer to crop and make it a square as Paul mentioned. Good light to you Jerry.   Posted: 06/13/2021 10:47:22

Thanks for the story of the image and for the rule which is applicable in a lots of situation of the life.
I would also suggest to reduce the dark zone of the right and the left, without reaching necessary the square format, so you can keep the eyes more "in" the picture.
I said sometimes ago, it will be possible to take video at 4K and to extract the picture we want. Here is a good example. What is important? The result, the picture. How to reach it, there is the work of the maker. This is an evolution and you use it. Well done.   Posted: 06/16/2021 04:39:00
