About the Image(s)

Technical: 1/250, f8,0, ISO 100 at 150 mm (FF)

In France (3 days holidays…) we had a hotel with seaside. I took some pictures from the terrace. I tried (as I like) some ? minimalism ?, namely somebody alone on the beach.

Treatment only in LR. Decrease the highlight. Increase the contrast, the texture, clarity and dehaze. Some masks on the man and with the background (clarity, texture and dehaze).

Best regards.

I like your minimalism shot. Very effective in B/W.   Posted: 10/04/2024 16:10:43

It is very nice, I love minimalism, and this one works well. I especially like the reflection and shadow of the person

I might suggest lowering the contrast of the area around the person. The color version has less contrast and works better. Leave the contrast on the subject higher to bring him out more from the surroundings.

A strong image.   Posted: 10/08/2024 16:55:21

Thanks David.
I will try with less contrast.   Posted: 10/16/2024 07:37:24

This is quite a trong image, the simplistic style of it is great and the open space you have for the person to walk into is great. that reflection is spot on. That dark band gives the walker a target. But I find those two dark patches in each bottom corner draws my eyes and I would crop to just above them. This give a much better balance.   Posted: 10/14/2024 11:58:05

Good eyes Paul dor the 2 bottom corners...
When you have seen them, your eyes are attracted by them...
I will try to light them, without cropping to keep the subject on a strong point.   Posted: 10/16/2024 07:39:54

I, too, like the minimalism of the subject. It conveys the emotion of solitude - walking on a quiet beach alone. Could you crop down on the top so that the dark sand is not showing and the background is all one tone? I also appreciate where the subject is placed in the photo. I normally would place him more on the bottom walking in and up. Your vision works well.   Posted: 10/14/2024 15:19:02

I like the minimalism of this image. There's no question what the subject is or what he's doing; it's not hard for the viewer to see and appreciate this photo. The dark sand at the top leads me out of the image. I wonder if cropping that out would make a stronger image?   Posted: 10/16/2024 20:38:45

Vincent, this is a nice minimalist image. I appreciate the composition with the person in the left upper third and taking a step. My only suggestion is to contrast the person from the background a bit, perhaps by darkening the background just a touch would work.   Posted: 10/19/2024 21:46:21
