About the Image(s)
Whenever you go to a National Park, there are warnings about getting too near the wild animals.
We were hiking in Theodore Roosevelt NP in North Dakota when this huge guy stood up in the tall grass. We froze and he sauntered off in the opposite direction.
Photo was taken with my old Olympus E-PL5 with my 14-150 lens. F 5.
Since Buffalo give an old west feeling, I decided to convert this to sepia in Silver Efex Pro.

This bison was really close to you! Scary! I love your framing of the image and especially adding the Sepia tones. This is a very strong image. Frame this memory.

Wow. That's close. Great eye contact though. The sepia tones are very effect.   Posted: 10/07/2024 23:28:19

I love to see bison; I have often seen them in the Tetons and Yellowstone. They are great to photograph.
The conversion to sepia works well, as they tend to have that color anyway. The DOF, contrast, and detail are all excellent. Getting both eyes looking is a bonus. A strong image.   Posted: 10/08/2024 16:06:03

Thanks, Dave. I agree, they are special to shoot.I think they reflect a different era of what used to be.   Posted: 10/14/2024 15:50:46

We don't have these wild animals in Belgium, so thanks to share this really beautiful picture. There were millions...
At the right time at the "right" place... to have a beautiful picture and emotion.... Perfect processing. As mentioned by David, to have both eyes is a bonus.   Posted: 10/13/2024 19:53:26

Thank you, Vincent. We only have them in the Western National Parks now. Definitely, Nostalgia for the past.   Posted: 10/14/2024 15:53:22

Nice to see an image of a Bison that is not covered in Ice and snow. The eye contact and detail is lovely and that sad tilt of the head is nicely placed. As you know I am not a great fan of sepia toning. But a lovely image that sits well in the frame.   Posted: 10/14/2024 11:50:48

Thank you, Paul. For some reason, I lean toward Sepia for old Western themes...I guess it gives me the feel of another era.   Posted: 10/14/2024 15:54:49

Fran, what a moment you had with this encounter! You must have been quick thinking to get this image. The bison is staring right at you and you captured the eye very well. I like the conversion with the sepia tone as it does give a western feel. I use it for an antique look too. Great image.   Posted: 10/19/2024 21:43:26
