September 2021 - Monarch Butterfly

About the Image(s)

Sightseeing of these butterflies is becoming a rare event even in Minnesota were they used to be quite popular. It might be that the pollution is taking a toll even on the life of these critters. In any case this one was really cooperative with my camera. It danced a couple of hours on my wife garden and I were able to get a few good shots. Camera Lumix G9, lens Lumix G-Vario 60mm. Focal length 60mm.; shutter speed 1/125; aperture F/7.4; ISO 800. Final post processing in PS/LrC.

I like the painterly treatment and the colors and details. I increased the contrast a bit and cropped from the top.   Posted: 09/02/2021 12:03:05

Gabriele, the colors are what draws me to this photo. Magenta and Orange looks like a really good combination. I do think a little crop on the top is better. Nice capture Gabriele and yes, its sad what is happening to our Monarch Butterflies.

Gabriele, I agree with Marge about the contrasting colors. They immediately drew me to your lovely picture. And, the painterly effect is another bonus. A great picture.   Posted: 09/30/2021 07:38:02
