Mt. Fuji by Peter Cheung

May 2023 - Mt. Fuji

About the Image(s)

This photo was taken at the end of last month in Fujiyoshida, Japan. Cherry blossoms have already past their peak when I visited there. However, the leaves of the cherry trees turned red in color that were still beautiful. I tried to frame the Mt. Fuji with the red leaves and found this spot. I used a small aperture, f/16, in order to keep the leaves and the mountain in focus. My camera settings are Nikon D850, Nikon 18-35mm, 35mm, 1/250 sec, f/16, iso 400. In post-processing I need to brighten the leaves, cropped half of the image, and increased the red color saturation a little.

Hi Peter: Oh, Japan, what at wonderful trip. The color in this image is beautiful. The contrast is right on point. Mt Fuji seems to be too centered, but when I used a crop board on the right, the mountain still remained in the middle. Ha Ha. I actually like the little village on the right-hand corner. I really like this image.   Posted: 05/10/2023 16:03:13

Peter, I love the image especially the way the cherry blossoms frame the mountain peak. The colors are contrasts are on point. regarding the village on the right I might erase the "antenna" to blend into the green mountain. Nice capture.   Posted: 05/11/2023 14:29:57

Peter, I agree with Lee Ann and Peter, this image of Mt. Fuji is very appealing to the eye. The complimentary colors of the red and green in the foreground only add to the beauty of the white tipped mountain. I do find the buildings in the lower right a distraction from the serenity of the mountain. Otherwise, I love the photo!   Posted: 05/14/2023 14:02:45

Wonderful capture Peter. Great color, contrast, sharpness and framing. I think you could crop out the buildings on the right and not lose anything. I wonder if it would be possible to select the mountain and give it a little more saturation.   Posted: 05/19/2023 14:35:51
