May 2022 - Maroon Iris in the Rain

About the Image(s)

This was taken in 2017 but I have been going back to rework it. The shape of the iris caught my eye that day‚Ä”it made the flower seem almost distorted. Nikon D750 Nikon 24-120mm 55mm f/4 ISO 100. f/5 1/50

Hi Bob: This iris is stunning with its vibrant color and sharpness. Did you use stacking on this image? If so, well done. My only criticism is that the liquid on the petals does not look real to me. Did you use an oil? The drops are just so big and distracting. The first place my eye goes is to the drops in the foreground. If these are truly rainwater or sprayed water, I apologize to both you and Mother Nature.   Posted: 05/07/2022 11:43:47

A feast for the eye, Bob! Perfect bokeh that suspends the Iris in space to great effect. To me, there seems to be a very strong beneficial symmetry or balance in the principal part of the flower. Perhaps that is distracted by the lesser dog-leg petal on the right. I'm wondering if removing that dog-leg would enhance the composition. Very enjoyable and tactile image!   Posted: 05/08/2022 14:52:16

No stacking. It's real water. That's what dry my eye. thanks   Posted: 05/09/2022 07:41:23

Great image Bob, Nice and sharp with very good color and detail. The only thing I might recommend is to brighten the flower just a little bit.   Posted: 05/19/2022 18:28:44

You are right. I think this isn't the brightest version I had.
