A Wall for Joe by Helen Sweet

September 2021 - A Wall for Joe

About the Image(s)

: This 2019 image from Buenos Aires reminds me of my friend and fellow club member, recently deceased Joe Hearst, with whom we traveled to workshops: Richard Martin in Cuba and Freeman Patterson in New Brunswick. Joe loved to travel and was inspired by their work. I was inspired by his. He was very active in PSA, chairing the monthly print competition for years and authoring numerous PSA Journal articles. He especially liked rust and peeling paint as well as doors and windows. This was taken with my Sony 6300 with a 18-200 lens at ISO 200, 23mm, f /6.3, 1/125 sec. I cropped a bit, darkened the top left corner and added some vignette to the left side.

Such a nice gesture to remember Joe. I "knew" him through Print of the Month. Such a nice and talented man who was dedicated to PSA and was never too busy to anwer questions and help others. I love the textures, compostion and colors of this image.   Posted: 09/06/2021 11:55:48

Thank you,Cindy. So glad that you noticed this image and stopped by to share your memories of Joe. Reading your bio, I see that you did very well in Print of the Month competitions so apparently had a lot of interaction with Joe. No doubt a lot of us learned from him. His legacy.   Posted: 09/08/2021 19:02:28

Very good composition and great for the colors and texture I am hard pressed to think how it could be better other than maybe a bit brighter on the green in the plant without standing out too much   Posted: 09/16/2021 00:15:51
