Red Fox and her cub by Peter Cheung

July 2021 - Red Fox and her cub

About the Image(s)

The picture was taken in San Juan Island, WA at the end of April. The red foxes were thought to have been introduced to San Juan Island in the 19th century when large number of European rabbits on this island causing a lot of problem at that time. Although they are called "red" fox, they can be many different colors, such as black, silver, orange, or multi-colored. When I visited the island at the end of April, there was a red fox family. The mother fox is orange, and the father is black so they have three cubs, one black, one orange, and one brown in colors. Very cute and interesting. The camera settings are Nikon D850, Nikon 200-500mm, 1/2000 secs, 500mm, ISO-400, f/6.3. In post-processing, I blurred the background more.

Wonderful image of a tender scene. The color is great and the shallow depth of field really helps bring the viewers focus to what's important. Nice and sharp.   Posted: 07/18/2021 16:38:46
