Colorful Tulip by Howard Frank

June 2021 - Colorful Tulip

About the Image(s)

I shot this image several weeks ago at the Chicago Botanic Garden. I pushed the colors and sharpening in Lightroom to help it stand out. Taken with my Nikon D850 with my Tamron 28 to 300 lens, handheld at 300mm, F/8, ISO 800 1/200th of a second.
I liked the soft flowing lines of this beautiful flower.

Howard, a very nice image, the colors look great. The only thing, I find distracting are the green leaves around the flower and the right bottom. I took your image and darkened the leaves. You can see them, but your, eyes go to the flower. I also added a small frame (3pix) which brings you eye to the flower. Good job   Posted: 06/15/2021 16:15:56

Yes, Howard, the flowing lines are beautiful along with the flower's luminance and colors as well as the detail you captured. I like the bokeh which I might darken just a little and get rid of the bit on the left edge. Maybe darken the base of the stem, too? Lovely image.   Posted: 06/17/2021 12:16:55

Stuart pretty much said it--about darkening the greenery I love the silky look of the petals--great detail. The crispness of where the petals come together is very effective.   Posted: 06/18/2021 00:20:20

Ditto, ditto, and ditto.

You've captured the essence of this incredible flower...well done!   Posted: 06/18/2021 10:59:37

Howard, the soft flowing lines are beautiful and add a nice element of detail to the photo. The blurred background accentuates the image nicely.   Posted: 06/18/2021 14:32:52

Beautiful capture and post-processing. I agree with Stuart that darkening the surrounding leaves will look better.   Posted: 06/19/2021 13:56:26
